During my time at Pacific University and for a couple of years afterwards, I was part of the core organizing team for the Cascade Climate Network (CCN). CCN is an affiliation of students from college and university campuses across the Pacific Northwest working to implement sustainability projects and engage young people in political activism for the climate.
As the official CCN representative for Pacific U., I attended quarterly organizing and leadership summits to chart a direction for CCN, engaged Pacific students in CCN events, and coordinated with student activists throughout the region on Northwest-wide campaigns. After graduating from Pacific, I served for a time as the official media coordinator for CCN, and coordinated one of the organization’s annual student lobby days at the Oregon State Capitol. I was especially active in CCN’s work to involve students in the regional fight against liquefied natural gas pipelines and terminals in the Pacific Northwest.
