Certificate in Northwest Natural History

p1110001-2I earned my Certificate in Northwest Natural History from North Cascades Institute in 2018. To complete the Certificate I took classes and workshops on wildlife tracking, winter ecology, bird identification, Northwest bees, fire ecology, wetland habitat restoration, nature journaling, and many other topics. The highlights of this year-long experience involved participating in a series of field intensives in Washington’s Methow Valley, during which I assisted with local research and conservation projects (including the beaver release pictured above) and met with experts on wildlife and ecology.

The knowledge I gained while earning this Certificate complements what I’ve learned from decades of observing and studying Northwest ecosystems and the plants and animals who inhabit them. My understanding and appreciation for this biodiverse region only continues to grow.
